NavajoStrong Campaign for Upward Bound Participants

The Mission

NavajoStrong was created to aid the Navajo community during the COVID-19 pandemic and economic crisis. They strive to honor their ancestors and empower the Diné by working hard to help citizens who are affected by disease, poverty, and other health disparities on the Navajo Reservation.

Upward Bound provides fundamental support to participants in their preparation for college entrance. The program provides opportunities for participants to succeed in their precollege performance and ultimately in their higher education pursuits. Upward Bound serves: high school students from low-income families; and high school students from families in which neither parent holds a bachelor's degree. The goal of Upward Bound is to increase the rate at which participants complete secondary education and enroll in and graduate from institutions of postsecondary education.

Computers for Kids, Inc, a Registered Microsoft Refurbisher, has been present since 2001. We have been serving ID, WA, and OR and now welcoming Utah for over 19 years.

WE ARE  FIFTY THOUSAND SYSTEMS PROUD!

We offer students in grades K-12th the opportunity to enhance their education through the use of technology at HOME. We see the true power that our youth holds, and we have made it our mission to transform them into natural-born leaders, ready to take on the world.

We are teaming up with Micron Technology, Upward Bound, Secure Erase, LLC., and NavajoStrong to provide Upward Bound students (9th-12th) on the Navajo reservation in Utah with devices to use at home for schoolwork. A lot of homes on the reservation don't have access to power, which makes it difficult for students to go home and do schoolwork. They can often be seen at a park, far from home, sitting on a bench, and trying to get a charge underneath the hot sun.

All the students have to do is write an essay about who they are, what they need the computer for, and provide $20 that will go towards the cost of the device! Donation sponsors will receive a thank you card written by the student whose life they help change! â€‹â€‹

Your Help

Anything helps! There are few ways to help one is to sponsor a laptop for a student (or students) for $50 each. If you want to give more, you can help sponsor a power bank for one of the students without access to power at home for $130 each. If you can't donate money, you can also share this on your Facebook!
